Tulsa police are investigating their first homicide of 2013.
Police say 31-year-old Ronnie Stanley was shot to death Friday afternoon in the 2000 block of North St. Louis Ave.
Detectives tell FOX23's Dontaye Carter they stopped a van in East Tulsa Friday night and believe someone linked to the shooting was in that van. They say they'll compare footprints in mud near the shooting scene to that suspect's shoes.
Crime scene tape now crisscrosses the area where Stanley died.
“I heard exactly ten to fifteen shots,” said a neighbor, Haley Carey.
She was washing dishes when the shots were fired. However, Carey says the shooting is nothing new to this area.
“Just normal activity in the neighborhood,” she said.
The mother of two says she’s had enough with all the violence.
“There’s children that are going to be involved in it,” she said. “There’s other lives at stake.”
Police told FOX23 they got a shots fired call just after four Friday afternoon. When they arrived the suspect was gone and Ronnie Stanley was fighting to survive after being shot multiple times.
“There was some kind of battle that went on in that area,” said Tulsa Police Homicide Detective Dave Walker.
Outside of that police say they don’t know much else. None of the witnesses were talking. Police escorted some of the witnesses downtown hoping to get answers.
“There are a lot of gun shell casings out in the street, in and out of the area,” said Walker. “I’m assuming there’s multiple shots fired. Where they came from or who shot them we don’t know yet?”
“We heard the shots. We were playing dominoes.”
This neighbor didn’t want to be identified but says it seems like the shootings don’t stop.
“It’s always like that. That’s the third time someone’s been killed over there,” said the neighbor.
It's a fear Carey has for her two young boys.
“When they’re out here I worry about them getting hit or getting shot and I don’t want to live on this side of town anymore,” she said.
