This stretch of road was recently replaced for the first time in half a century.

Neighbors here were relieved, but then shocked when construction crews appeared again and traffic began backing up.

They were so concerned that they started emailing and writing on the Facebook page their city counselor GT Bynum about the problem.

"I've received a number of questions from my friends and constituents in the area who were concerned that the stretch of land has had a significant amount of work done over the last several years," said Bynum.

Bynum said the roadwork in the area is for a pedestrian bridge, sidewalk and a sewer line replacement.

The city also wants to build sidewalks on both sides of the street to better provide pedestrian and handicapped access.

Although this is a good thing, it doesn't ease the traffic concerns of neighbors in the area.

"I'm concerned about the dangers for people. We have a lot of walkers and people that walk their dogs and children and their babies and it's hard to know which way to turn and which way to go," said Debbie, a concerned neighbor.

"Here in the neighborhood it is hard to get north and south. I hope it's all for the best. It was worth waiting for and we had this street under construction for like two months." said Leah Farish.

FOX23 learned the city has a policy that when workers
fix streets, they try to build sidewalks on both sides.

Bynum said the sewer line replacement is scheduled to start next week so drivers can expect some delays.

i wonder why these issues weren't completed when they had that stretch of road under construction for a year? who is responsible for the construction scheduling for the city of Tulsa? It seems that if you were going to have the road shut down to two lanes for that period of time, that all issues could have been addressed at the same time.
