In a matter of a few days, students in Broken Arrow will head back to classes after winter break and some will see a new 93,000-square-foot addition.

FOX23 has been following the progress of the new addition at Broken Arrow High school for the past year.

The builders say students and staff will be greatly surprised.

Broken Arrow High School Chief Operating Officer Michelle Bergwall took us FOX23 on a tour of the upgraded edition that was part of the 2009 bond issue.

"That edition has allowed us to connect five of the separate buildings on campus and put them all under one roof part," Bergwall told FOX23.

Bergwall took FOX23 to the new art rooms, a new black box theater, six new science labs and media center and practice space for the pride of Broken Arrow.

Bergwall also said they are glad to be in the finishing touches stage after 18 months of work.

"It's always hard to build a building on an existing campus and it's not without its pains," Bergwall said.

Months of taking what was "kind of an 'H' shaped building," and turning it into a state-of-the-art facility.

"I think everyone will be completely surprised, parking will be better, spaces will be different," Bergwall said.

About 2,200 students will head back to class and get to enjoy the new space Monday.
