The need is growing and so is the Tulsa Humane Society opening a new, larger center to treat and find new homes for countless animals.FOX23’s Abbie Alford reports on how this could increase the chances of more animals getting adopting into loving homes.
During the year-long construction at the center, animals at the Tulsa Humane Society 6232 E. 60th Street locationanimals were showcased only in the center’s lobby.
Now the Humane Society has expanded it’s showcase room and provided suites for larger animals.
In the suites you’ll find Lucy, a Labrador/Retriever she’s been at the shelter since August, sisters Nicole and Paris, and Hounddog Katie who is a talker and so is the Basset Hound Hoover.
However, Bailey, a German Shepherd mix, whose owner was working two jobs to pay the bills couldn’t give her the care she needed.
So the Tulsa Humane Society is giving the rescued animals a new and improved temporary home.
A center where 25 dogs and cats are ready for you to give them lots of love and a permanent home.
"There's always been a need now there's a stronger need so it's very important for us to be able to have this center here and for people to be able to know about it so if they are looking for a pet to come and try to adopt before they buy from a breeder because there are too many pets out there to shop instead of adopt right now," says Humane Society of Tulsa’s Center Manager Jamie Soderstrom.
The center also expanded a home for up to six felines, named the room the Feline Forest.
