Muskogee police arrested a mother who had drugs in her home and allegedly
sold drugs with two juveniles.
Police arrested 34-year old Christie Morales on Wednesday after searching her home and finding a eight pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, like bongs and pipes.
Officers said they also found drug scales, 15 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, drug ledgers and $1,143 in cash in the home.
Some of the marijuana was in large bricks, that total street value was $1,300.
Police said an anonymous tip told them that Morales’s 16-year-old son, who was at the home during the bust participated in the consumption and sale of the marijuana.
Police said after questioning Morales she denied that and took the blame for everything in the house.
“That’s not much of a role model for the kids,” said Muskogee police Sgt. Peter Liimatta. “They see that lifestyle, they think it’s acceptable. She took all the blame for everything, said everything was all hers.”
There were four children in the house at the time of the arrest. Two were Morales', the 16 year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. The other two teenagers were friends.
One of them, 16-year-old Samantha Bramlett talked with FOX23 News. She said no one but Morales sold the marijuana. She also said she had been living with Morales for about two years and Morales had hurt her leg and was unable to get real work recently so she was selling the marijuana to support her family.
“Christie kind of took me in with one of her kids,” said 16-year-old Bramlett. “She was just trying to make money for us and she bought me clothes and food; I had no where to go. It was wrong that she did it but she did it for the right reasons.”
Police said Morales openly admitted to selling the drugs for at least a year.
“Just so disappointed that people don’t think of the consequences of what they are doing to their kids,’ said Sgt. Liimatta.
Morales faces charges of possession with intent, drug paraphernalia and child endangerment.
She was released on a $25,000 bond on Thursday.
