The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continues to investigate the death of a Stillwell man Sunday night.
FOX23 was the first station to tell you about the homicide investigation on Fox23 News at Nine Saturday.
We know that one man is dead and another is in jail.
We spent the day in Adair County to check into the details of the case, and to find out what led to the murder.
It's scary for our kids scary, and for anyone in the town of Adair.
Deanna Akin lives in Stillwell with her family.
"You know our kids are around this… and I know the people this happened to," Akin tells FOX23.
We learned from OSBI that the Adair County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting around 6:30 Friday night in Stillwell.
Akin told me she was about a mile away from where the murder happened.
"I seen the cops go by I see the ambulance go by and it scared me because that could have been one of my family members," Akin explained.
They say when deputies arrived, they found Ricky Harlin shot and killed outside his home.
Rodney Wilson was arrested at the scene and taken to the Adair County Jail.
OSBI told FOX23 Wilson was booked on one count of first-degree murder.
They say they are still investigating the details, but at this point, OSBI thinks Wilson went to Harlin's house, where some type of confrontation happened.
Deputies told FOX23 Wilson told them he did it in self-defense.
"Safer that they are investigating it and they'll find what happened. I'm scared because my husband and I have settled here with our five kids," Akin said.
We've learned Wilson is scheduled to be in court Monday.
