David is right. The first thing I thought when reading this article is, wonder which officer smuggled those items in. A visitor did not smuggle bags of weed and bottles of liquor that big. Just isnt possible.

I guess fox is digging for content. Looks more like the history channel.

yeah, it's all bad. let's look at the big picture. how do you think those cell phones are getting into prison. especially a high level (level lV or ad-seg)joint where those guy's are single celled w/o hardly any yard time. visits are between glass. no human contact (unless you have a cellie). also, cell phones are very expensive at the places I've described above. $800.00 to $1500.00. then you have to have someone on the outs paying that monthly bill. have you figured it out yet? the C.O.'s are bringing them in. let's say he takes an order for 4 cell ph.'s with chargers at (we'll keep it low) $800.00 each. that's $3200.00 minus about $600.00 for the phones and activation. you do the math. the reason I said 4 phones is because most of these C.O.'s won't budge for less than 3 orders. I mean he's violating his oath anyways, might as well go for a profit at that point. so, before you guy's get your panties in a twist over what an inmate (remember they are criminals) is doing with his or her phone, think about where that phone came from.

Honestly they need to have tent cities like they do in Arizona for theses prisoners. Its good enough for our men and women serving our country, but not for these convicted criminals. In some cases they have more amenities then the military serving over seas... It makes no sense!

wtf is he doin in a medium security and why are prisoners allowed access to a computer, they have a library, make them read. for gawd sakes this is a prison. they shouldnt have access to anything as far as tecnology goes. it should be a privilage for very few just to watch the news or a movie. they made the choice to do wrong to society.....why do they feel they have the right to stay connected. i thought when you went to prison you lost all your rights......thats bullshyt....those looooooser scumbags have it better than our homeless ppl do.

goodone, sounds like the same old tired excuses to me, I have worked lots of 16 hour shifts when we were short handed, and still did my job right, that is just a cop out for lazy employees who want to do as little as possible for their pay, so you might want to stop bragging about the $12,000 to 24,000 per week overtime, there are lots of unemployed people out here right now with great work ethics, who would jump at that kind of pay, and getting to knock around some lowlife cons would be a bonus. Pretty good pay for basically being a security guard, for that kind of money, they could touch my junk and whisper sweet nothings in my ear, where do I apply?

There are alot of very valid points made here within these posts but I may be able to add a little. First off DOC is very short handed, On most days there are 4 to 8 CO'S held over from the shift before. This is every work day, you simply are not sure if you are gonna get off work when its your time to go home. This is not always voluntary, it is in policy that you cannot leave until properly relieved. This creates alot of strife for anyone who has family issues or anything scheduled. It just isn't gonna happen at that point. You simply must stay for work. Now this results in overtime pay that ranges from $12,000.00 to $24,000.00 a week. Now I am not sure that Good ol Justin Jones wants you to know that. but there it is. Thats alot of money. I say hire more staff allow staff time off to get the well deserved rest. Then you would be far more productive to stop this contraband before it enters the facility. Now, CO'S do work in units that house 200 or more offenders, thats not much security, only 1 person to manage 200 killers, rapists, peophiles, druggies and the rest of societies undesirables. Now you don't want them living next door but you don't want to pay for the incarceration either. Well folks you simply can't have it all . The sad truth is contraband does enter these facilities, staff do take bribes.(not many), Visiters do smuggle contraband in during visits in a body cavity , then pull it out to sneak to the offender. Now when they are caught they simply ..LIE,LIE,LIE. HEY THEY WERE NEVER HONEST TO BEGIN WITH. This happens like a sting operation. Now there are more staff than just CO'S. There are also kitchen staff, unit staff, claricle staff, administrative staff, chaplins , volunteers, and the list goes on. Now , starting tomarro all persons entering the facilities will be searched. This means they will (TOUCH YOUR JUNK) when you come to work. You are also required to bring in only clear containers for your lunch or other items.

Tell the C/O's to stop takeing them in and stop blameing the visiters...C/O's make good money selling them to inmates.....

I hope all the other inmates read this and realize who is they have to thank for their being searched and having all their goodies taken away. Can you say "retribution"?
