The director of the feature film “The Rock’n’ Roll Dreams of Duncan Christopher” says that the movie goes beyond the story line and showcases the real Oklahoma.

“It has so much to offer amazing art, amazing people and spaces and legendary places,” said the Director, Justin Monroe. Monroe is a Tulsa native and said the movie allowed him the artistic opportunity to showcase iconic areas of Tulsa.

“The Rock’n’ Roll Dreams of Duncan Christopher” is a comedy film about the son of a rock and roll legend who moves to Tulsa to test his music ability. Monroe says the places in Green County help bring the film to life.

“We wanted to show it off and we wanted to show its beauty because it is beautiful,” said Monroe.

Filming took place in 2008 and showcases Cain’s Ballroom, areas along Riverside and Brookside. Scenes were also shot at Gypsy coffee house and In the Raw Sushi among others.

The movie was filmed and fundraised in Oklahoma and showcases local talent and music. Monroe says a key element in the production of the movie was the Oklahoma Film and Music Tax Incentive.

“It made the difference for us being able to finish the film and not be able to finish the film,” said Monroe.

Erin Conrad helped with the marketing of the movie and said that she was happy to help bring Oklahoma to audiences all around the world.

“They get to see this place showcased in beautiful way,” said Conrad, “It means something.”

The film was released last year and will soon be available for purchase on Netflix. The sound track and movie is currently available on ITunes.
