A woman is accused of leaving three young children in a south Tulsa apartment without air conditioning.
Yomara Alvarado was arrested Tuesday for child endangerment.
FOX23 spoke with her co-workers after her arrest and they paint a very different picture.
Alvarado works at a nail salon and her co-workers have nothing but nice things to say about her.
"She is a very good mom and very friendly and all of the customers love her," says her co-worker, Kevin.
And that's why they were shocked to find out that she was arrested on three counts of child endangerment.
"I think she is a good mom, too. Every time we start talking, she talks about her children and her family," says her other co-worker,.Julie.
On Tuesday afternoon, Tulsa police were called to the WaterStone apartments.
According to the arrest report, they found three small children inside the apartment ages 5, 4 and 2. Police say the home they were staying in did not have air conditioning and at one point, the temperature rose to 90 degrees inside.
The children became so hot they began pouring 20 bottles of water on themselves to stay cool. Officers say there wasn't any food within reach for the children to eat and the apartment was not secure.
But the people Alvarado works with tell FOX23 she normally brings her kids with her.
Alvarado's co-workers say she would often bring her three children to the nail salon where she worked, and she would put them inside a room to let them play.
"We don't mind and she brings the kids here all the time," says Kevin.
Alvarado told her co-workers that a babysitter was watching her kids and that's why she didn't have them with her at work on Tuesday.
Police removed the children from the apartment and took them to a local shelter.
Alvarado was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County jail on three counts of child endangerment. The bond was set at 75,000.
Her co-workers are hoping to try and help Alvarado get a lawyer so that she can be reunited with her children.
