Oh geez they are just taking fun monsters and transforming them into something magicstic for little girls to love, you take the dolls away the girls are still going to want to get into your dresses and high heels, my daughter owns all of these dolls there is a nanny cam in her room she does nothing inappropriate with these dolls and the worst that comes out of it is the monster high catch phrases, if anything they are showing children even monsters can be pretty, the web show is a positive statement and I am proud to say I buy one a week for my daughter,she doesn't try and dress like one or put heels and makeup on she just enjoys playing with them, and to all the parents that are outraged with theses dolls don't blame it on the dolls you might want to blame it on the company your little girls keeps, before you go picking on monster high dolls at least they actually have a story line unlike the bratz dolls, really you can sit and pick apart any toy you won't but it won't stop the fact that little girls will like what little girls like and just because your daughter might not like your barbie collection, but lets not forget about the midge and baby from our great barbie collection because that certainly would have done a number on anyone's child, the whole point I am trying to make here is it has nothing to do with your little girls dolls, when it comes down to it it's how you raise your kid to actually look at things sure you can sit and say OMG look at them dolls they look like such sl**s or you could have a positive approach and say this one is cool because Dracula was big when I was little, you people are such hypocrites and you are probably the ones we see dressing like bratz dolls at the local dive bar so your husbands can't see you, picking on a doll line you should be ashamed of yourselves! If our kids starts to spend their money parents at the earliest stage as posible, much better for the industry. Monster high it´s a clear exemple. Hey faerisight, I've never seen a Bratz doll wear thong underwear and they're not nasty either. If you've ever watched one of their episodes, you'll find they had positive messages too. The media jumped all over them too. I guess if you don't like the Bratz, that's your opinion. My 6 yr old has Barbies, Bratz & Monster High. S for myself, I grew up with Barbie & she has bigger boobs than both Bratz & Monster High.

Oh MY GOD, Parents get real already. This is the same thing that happened with the Bratz Dolls. They are dolls & simply that. When adults start using unfavorable descriptions, that's when you get unfavorable results from your daughter(s). It is you as the parent who decides what they wear & when. They don't see prostitution or whatever we adults call it, they see "a pretty doll". Look at WWF for example. Some may say it promotes violence & hurting people. Does this mean that parents of little boys are letting their boys fight? Parents, stop throwing adult phrases in your children's company about their toys and let them enjoy their toys.

This is idiotic. I don't understand this whole predicament with little girl doll's. My little cousin has is obsessed with this doll's because of what they stand for. Friendship and loyalty. Clothes are just a part of "What teen-age girls like" so they add that. Also if any one watches this shows with their children you can see that the dress up to go to parties or school events. Things that teen girl's that care about their image does. The "Prostitutes " comment is out of the question! It's Stupid in so many levels. Why are they just pointing the finger at Monster High dolls!!! Barbie has very slutty clothes Brats too. This are doll's I saw girl's with since I was a child and the clothes haven't changed much. Other shows for very young young girl's like The Winks also have very reviling clothes. A other thing teen age girl's wear shirts and shorts that are way to short all the time. Drawings look better with short things than girls in real life and people don't say anything. Parents don't have control over their children and that's their own fault. This all comes from a teen ager and I like Monster High, I've been since it first came out. and if anything all they show is leg nothing else. Plus, I bet this whole thing is to cover up a true intentions. Discrimination! Skulls and dead creatures of the night.... ring any bells? e.....m......o.....! Though the show has nothing to do with any thing killing or suicide it's about not discriminating anyone and excepting who people are. People have come a long way but not may people act like it.

I'm guessing none of these "experts" have actually done their homework properly. Monster High are fashion dolls just like Barbie was back in the day which I and my two sisters grew up with and never had body issues. Secondly these dolls are actually educational in the sense that they do teach young girls some very valuable lessons such as what it means to be a good friend and daughter but also that you don't need to "fit in" with someone else's idea of what is socially acceptable. Each of the characters have their own social barriers such as Ghoulia who can't speak English, rather than everyone make fun of her and tell her to go back where she came from her friends learnt her language so they can communicate with her. Of Rochelle who is terribly shy, the other girls made the effort to get to know her and help her with her shyness. And then there's Draculaura who is quite well off and knows her friend Clwadeen who is one of many children in the family and therefore can't always afford to buy clothes ect. so rather than being made fun of Draculaura discreetly donates many of her clothes to her. So perhaps these "do gooders" should get their facts straight before complaining about a doll line based on appearance which by the way is amazing (Barbie had more revealing clothes) because these dolls each have stories and each of them deal with issues young girls do today in a way where girls can realise they don't need to have a boyfriend or be captain of a sporting team to be popular. They too can be like the character Ghoulia whom I mentioned early who is one of the smartest girls in school and is quite nerdy finds herself not being picked on for her smarts but rather looked up to and praised for being intelligent. So to these "experts" I say why don't you focus your time and energy on something else like perhaps the new doll who breast feeds marketed for 2year olds. For mothers of young girls I say do your homework, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

People say that dolls do not have an impact on children. Actually, they didn't really influence me as a kid.(Now I'm twelve.) I used to collect Barbies, but thats not because I love their miniskirts, aneroxic bodies, heavy makeup, or their huge chest. I only collected dolls because I love miniature versions of real-life items. In fact, I have tons to criticize about Barbies. I think the real problem is media. I used to watch Winx Club. When I saw the Winx Club girls standing next to the Redfountain boys, I thought girls were supposed to be skinny and weaker than boys. I thought that girls need to be saved by boys. I thought that girls needed to expose their midriffs and wear miniskirts.This scared me as I did not want to wear revealing clothing when I grow up. (Actually, in my country, Singapore, I think it is illegal to wear revealing clothing in public unless you're at the beach or swimming pool.) Basically, Winx Club teaches girls "what it means to have a vagina". But all of this sexism is a result of patriarchy's effect on society. We need to put a stop to this IMMEDIATELY.

They enforce gender stereotypes about how a women should be, for example, be seen but not be heard, women belong in the kitchen, look beautiful to please men, go to school just to learn cooking and cleaning and sewing and other useless crap. Therefore, wanting to look beautiful is not part of female nature. Girls are not born with the "pink gene". In fact, males in the animal kingdom try to look attractive to vie for a female's attention. Perhaps you're wondering why humans are so screwed up? That's because gender stereotypes are enforced on girls ever since they're born. Girls do not naturally like pink, or enjoy dressing up. The human brain is designed to absorb knowledge from its surroundings. Girls at an impressionable age pick up harmful gender stereotypes from media such as books, movies, TV shows. Girls believe that females are naturally supposed to be the way they are depicted in media, and they try to imitate others. "Grooming and dressing up" is not females' inborn characteristic. It is not written in our genes. Nobody notices that anything is wrong because gender stereotypes were enforced for centuries. They are so ingrained into human culture, people don't think twice about it, believing it to be "normal". If a girl does not conform to gender stereotypes, for example, she hates pink and dresses, like sports, she is not seen as normal; she is called a "tomboy". Come on people, she is just an ordinary girl, doing what she likes, and you cannot tell her to stop being herself. It is totally NOT okay to gender stereotype, just like how it is wrong to criticise fat people. This is DISCRIMINATION.
