Officers are searching for three robbers who broke into an apartment at the Braden Creek Complex, near 51st Street and Yale Avenue, around 3:15 Monday morning. People who live at the Braden Creek Apartments are worried.
"It's very disturbing," said one neighbor. "It makes me upset and nervous."
Jeremy Haiakanuvvi is especially concerned for his family, which spends most nights without him.
"I work at nights, and I don't get off until 7. When I'm at work, I worry about what's happening at home," said Haiakanuvvi.
Another neighbor tells FOX23 she's lived there for five years and has seen multiple robberies.
"The girl in the apartment across them kicked her door in in the middle of the day and stole all of the electronics," said the neighbor.
FOX23 drove around the block and counted at least six apartments that back right up to each other. Neighbors say it's part of the problem.
"When you get a lot of people in areas like this where apartments are everywhere, things are going to happen," said the neighbor.
One simple thing she says could help is repairing lights that don't work.
"It's scary, and I've begged and pleaded for months to get my security lights fixed,” said another neighbor.
Haiakanuvvi says he makes sure his family members know what to do when he can't be there to protect them.
"Lock the doors and don't open them," said Haiakanuvvi.
The manager did say 50 lights have been installed in the past few weeks on the property, and there is an overnight security guard who keeps an eye on the complex.
Police couldn't give FOX23 the exact number of crimes that have happened in the area.
