The state of Oklahoma is still in the process of making pseudo ephedrine even more difficult to buy. pseudo ephedrine, you have to show your driver's license. But if the proposed prescription law happens, you would only be allowed to get pseudo ephedrine with a doctor's approval.
" Without the pseudo ephedrine you cannot manufacture meth, so if you don't have pseudo ephedrine you don't have anything," Tulsa Co. Sheriff's Sgt. Bob Darby said.
Some don't mind the doctors perscripton to get cold medicine, as long is does the job of limiting meth users of getting their addiction.
" It may be a hassle but the alternative is having meth labs, having clean ups having people at risk, having children at risk," Tulsan Maria Rodriguez said.
But, Sgt. Bob Darby believes the law would work but, and says it may drive meth makers to surrounding states to feed their addiction. One of those states, Missouri according to the Missouri Highway Patrol the state is number one in meth lab busts in 2009. Over 1,700 busts. But, right now in Tulsa meth labs are down compared to last year at this time.
" We're not running and gunning everyday like we were before now we're getting two or three a week instead of one or two a day," Darby said.
