The meth epidemic is spreading to fast food restaurants.
The Tulsa County Drug Task Force says it busted the manager at the Carl’s Jr. at 103rd and Memorial in Bixby.
Two people were arrested: the manager, Carrie L. Glenn, 31 and Glenn’s friend Misty D. Lauricella, 24 for endeavoring to manufacture a controlled drug, delivering a controlled drug and telecommunication/drug transaction.
Fox 23’s Abbie Alford reports how the manager sold more than a combo meal.
Neighboring business owner, Maryann Brinton, couldn’t believe when she heard about the bizarre drug bust at the Carl’s Jr. in the same business plaza where she runs Maggie Moo's Ice Cream.
"It is amazing to me that it could happen in a place of business," says Brinton.
However, Sgt. Bob Darby says people are getting so hooked on meth they’ll go to extremes, even a drive-thru to get their meth fix.
That’s how Carrie Glenn, the manger of the Carl’s Jr. got caught.
"’The store closes at 11:00. So if you want more meth just come back in through the drive-thru and ask for me and I will hook you guys up,’" says Darby of Glenn.
Sgt. Darby says in an undercover drug buy, Glenn traded .2 grams of meth for eight boxes of pseudoephedrine pills.
Darby says the pills are so hot on the market Glenn cooked up quite a scheme.
"We had several boxes of pills to offer up to where they could cook enough meth and stay under the radar for another month," says Darby. "They don't want to risk going to a pharmacy more than once. So they are trying to find them on the black market or alternative means to finding the pills.”
