Mayor Dewey Bartlett has won a 2nd term as mayor of Tulsa.

Former Mayor Kathy Taylor conceded the election to Bartlett just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. The race was one of the longest campaigns in Tulsa history.

FOX23 was live with Dewey Bartlett as the votes were tallied and Bartlett heard the news that he would indeed be re-elected as Tulsa's mayor. FOX23 spoke with Bartlett directly about what this means to him.

Bartlett told FOX23 that he felt confident and good about how things are going. He told us this afternoon he felt confident and that confidence carried him through this evening.

Bartlett said that he believed that Tulsa's economic development and boost in jobs helped secure the reelection. He said that it was a difficult and at times, rough campaign, but says that he feels confident about getting back to work tomorrow morning.

The mayor thanked his family on stage and Sen. Jim Inhofe called him while he was on stage, saying that he wished him well. Given the death of the senator's son in a recent plane crash, the mayor said he was humbled and thankful for the call.

The Tulsa Regional Chamber released the following statement about the election:
"The Chamber congratulates each of the mayoral candidates on a hard-fought race. This race was significant as the City of Tulsa plays a vital role in the economic fortitude of northeast Oklahoma. Mayor Bartlett has been a steadfast partner in our economic development efforts and we look forward to continuing our work with his administration and the hard-working City of Tulsa staff over the next four years to ensure our region's future economic vitality."

Congrats to the GOP, it shows the Tulsa voters are sick and tired of the total demise of the Country mostly by the moocher sucking Democratic voters! Vote Straight GOP which supports Building Business, build morals, work hard and respect the Constitution that built this country. I left Tulsa 5 years ago, I love Tulsa but the crime which started out of control when Hurricane Katrina hit, cities accepting Katrina victims Houston then ask them to leave because neighborhood crime rose quickly, so did Tulsa crime and they stayed.. facts are there just look for yourself. Cathy Taylor typical Democrat spend spend spend and arrogant, then blame everyone else... Congrats to Tulsa for a good choice...

I'm really curious as to what Bartlett will do about the ever increasing violent crime in Tulsa. SO far he has had little or no affect.

I was really hoping he wouldn't win. But for the love of God, I was truly hoping that lady didn't win either. Guess we lose either way.

Not sure this is good news. When Booblette was first elected he brought Simonson on board. Simonson couldn't WAiT to abuse and neglect his authority by inserting a relative in the firefighters academy when the academy was already at full capacity. It'll be interesting to see what kind of political criminals will try to plunder Tulsa this term.
