The Tulsa Fire Department is working to control hot spots at a fire that ripped through a duplex in east Tulsa Thursday afternoon.

One man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The TFD fire captain told FOX23 the man was the only person inside of the duplex near 31st and 129th and he had singed nose hairs and smoke inhalation and he lost two pets after all three floors of his duplex caught on fire.

“I saw a big plume of smoke over the house and I thought holy crap,” said Pam Inkster, she lives across the street.

She said she immediately ran over to help

“The house was completely in flames and the guying living in the house was just yelling and screaming ‘Help! Help me!’,” she said.

Fire crews did take precautionary measures because the duplexes were so close together and evacuated neighbors in the area.

Fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.
