The Pittsburg County Sheriff's Department has asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist them in a stabbing case.

Pittsburg deputies were called to a community north of McAlester after a man was stabbed and run over by a vehicle following a physical altercation. The victim is 56-year-old John Edgar Young, known as Oscar.

Young ran into the wooded area near the crime scene before law enforcement arrived. Around 10 a.m. Saturday deputies found and transported him by ambulance to a McAlester hospital. From there, he was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

Agents and a member of the OSBI Crime Lab Response Unit spent many hours interviewing witnesses and processing the crime scene.

Investigators have a suspect identified but no one is under arrest at this time. The district attorney will decide what charges need to be filed in this case.
