A man has been charged after police say he brought an alligator to a south Tulsa college campus.

Tulsa police called the wildlife department after finding a large alligator in a car in south Tulsa at TCC at 81st and 169 last Wednesday.

Police say the initial call was about a man found drunk in a car in the parking lot around 12:30 p.m. When police got there they found the alligator in the car.

TPD called the Wildlife Department to take care of the reptile. Shane Allen is charged with possession of protected wildlife.

Officials say the alligator is only half grown, the game warden tells FOX23 the owner has had the gator for 21 years and faces a fine for letting his license lapse.

Since the gator is being well cared for there is a chance the owner could get it back.
