A young man is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after he was shot at a North Tulsa apartment complex.

It happened just before midnight on Thursday at the McKinley Apartments near Latimer and North Sheridan. The victim tried to run away and was found in a parking lot at McKinley Elementary School less than a half a mile away. Kids playing basketball there called for help.

Police believe there were multiple shooters. Gang officers were on the scene. Officers were knocking on every door and talking to neighbors trying to figure out what happened.

Police say they aren't 100 percent sure it was gang related, but detectives are not ruling that out.

No weapons have been found, but detectives picked up a few different kinds of shell casings, so they know there was more than one shooter, and they were using a few different guns.

No shots hit any of the apartments, so investigators believe the shooters were aiming straight for the man.

The victim is in his late teens or early 20s. It was last reported, he was in surgery.

Hell, our damned city gov,t turns a blind eye to it hoping that if they don't pay attention to it it will go away.We are in a crisis situation with the meth and crack problem which is the root of most if not all crime in Tulsa. If this were a virus infecting as many people it would be on the 6 0'clock news every night .It would be considered an epidemic and the national guard brought in.The drano-heads and crack addicts have overrun Tulsa.

i guess someone in my house is going to die before the city shuts down these apartments,I live next door and this is so common,I didn't bother getting out of bed after the shots, hopefully they all kill each other soon,so my family will be safer. No pity for the shooters or victim

Kids playing basketball just before midnight? I guess curfew isn't enforced in this part of town. Can't blame the cops for giving up. You can't fix it if it doesn' want to be fixed. :)
