(TULSA, Okla.) November 6 - The MRSA superbug is spreading.  Tonight, parents are learning it has shown up in another school district.

The Broken Arrow School District now has six cases of the antibiotic resistant staph infection.  Two students at Broken Arrow High School, two students at South Intermediate High School, one at Lynn Wood elementary, and one at Centennial Middle School.

When parents pulled arrived to pick up their kids, their kids had a note letting them know MRSA is here.

"It scares me a little bit that the school has it.  But I'm glad they're talking about it and bring it up more, because it's important", says parent Becky Summers.

Important, not just for every student, but especially for Becky's family.  “It hits us personally.  My husband is going through chemo right now, I lecture the kids about cleanliness and keeping clean and making sure we don't bring anything like that home for dad."

It’s an important lesson for everyone and one the district wants to stress too.
It's already been doing what it can to help keep kids safe even before the MRSA cases came forward.

"We've tried to use all the agents that we have for disinfecting. The ones that focus on staph, we include those in our mop water, so it hasn't just started", says Broken Arrow spokesperson Keith Isbell.

And hopefully by everyone taking precautions, every student and the Summers family will be able to go home germ free.

A phone call also went out district wide, letting parents know a letter was sent home.

District officials say five of the students are back at school but one is still out.

Broken Arrow is just the latest school to confirm cases of MRSA.  Students from Tulsa Public Schools, Jenks, Muskogee, Owasso, Coweta and Choteau have also tested positive for the infection.
