(TULSA, Okla.) November 5 – Tonight there is word of four more confirmed cases of MRSA, the anti-resistant staph infection, in Tulsa Public Schools.

The district says a teacher and student at Skelly Elementary, a teacher at Edison High School, and a student at Jones Elementary were all diagnosed with the superbug.

Parents are just learning of the news.  A letter went home with students at Jones Elementary today.  It went out last week with students at Skelly.  Now the schools are trying to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Jones Elementary Principal Howard Benyon says, “I want to assure that the health and safety of your children is our first concern here at Jones, so we're disinfecting the building with staph cleaning agents.”

But that's just one of the precautions the district is taking.  “What we are doing as a district now is requiring that any TPS employee or teacher, nursing staff, if they see a child with a rash or wound that looks suspicious, they are required now to report it to health services”, says TPS spokesperson Tami Marler.

The student at Jones Elementary was back in class today after being released by his doctor.  The district says the student and teacher at Skelly Elementary are now okay.  There's no word on the teacher at Edison.

The Tulsa Public School District also says there are two possible cases of MRSA at Lindbergh Elementary.
