We all know weather can dictate anything here in Oklahoma and that includes Winterfest.

After being closed for five days to unseasonably warm weather, the festival just re-opened.

Topping off a steaming cup of Hot Cocoa, vendor Donnis Hendrix hopes Thursday night will bring out a large crowd to Winterfest.

'It's really hard because we're not getting the revenue we expected by this time this year,” says Hendrix.

Thanks to some record warm days, organizers had to close the ice rink after it began to melt. For Donnis and other vendors, this meant losing money.

"We're looking at a couple of thousand dollars a day that we're missing and we're not able to get that revenue,” says Hendrix.

And it’s not just her; she also has employees to think about.

"It's not just us not being able to generate the income, but it's the employees that I have scheduled during this that aren't going to be able to work in this warm weather,” she says.

Now that it’s cooler out, she hopes Thursday night and this weekend can make up her lost revenue. Winterfest is now in its 5th year and features a 44 foot Christmas tree, carriage rides and an outdoor ice skating rink. Not to mention a variety of foods and entertainment.

"Luckily, today we get to open back up and it's great time with our weekend out here with the holiday market and fireworks and the parade's coming by so we're really excited to have it back open,” says BOK Special Events Coordinator, Brian Smith.

Winterfest is open now until January 6th. There is no admission cost to get in, but if you would like to ice skate – it’s $10 for adults and $5 for children 3 and under.

Officials will continue to post updates on the Winterfest website and Facebook.
