McGraw Realtors is sponsoring the 11th Annual ‘Lights On Christmas’ event for the Kendall-Whittier neighborhood on Saturday, December 7th.

Residents, schools and partners from the area are all invited to get into the holiday spirit early by lighting up Whittier Square and enjoying food, fun and entertainment close to where they live and work.

A professional photographer will also be on site to provide families with the opportunity to take a free family holiday photo. Free gifts will also be given to all the children.

The celebration will take place in the parking lot under the clock tower in Whittier Square and next to the Kendall-Whittier Public Library from 5:30-7pm. Circle Cinema will be showing Christmas movies for free in the afternoon leading up to the event.

“McGraw is the main sponsor, however this event is truly a testimony of a community working together, as neighborhood volunteers, local organizations and institutions- all do their part to ensure the success of this annual event. Each year is bigger and better, and definitely showcases the collaborative effort that goes on all year long within this neighborhood, “said Courtney Chadney, a spokeswoman with Growing Together.

“We really are a community of the whole, the sum of all of our parts, and we will be a much better place to live, grow and invest,” said Geni Fox of McGraw Realtors.

Those attending enjoy performances by a professional Mariachi Band, as well as school performances. Food is also served, including: tamales, some fruits & vegetables (carrots, apples, & oranges), chips and salsa, holiday cookies and hot chocolate. Each child is given the opportunity to visit with Santa, and each child receives a gift bag with two books and a small gift or art project. Other fun activities for the family include: games, a craft tent, letters to Santa, letters to our troops overseas, a giant sleigh and a professional photographer taking family photos.

“We want to celebrate the richness of the neighborhood and build a stronger community among all the people who live here. They have so much to be proud of, and my hope is that they will feel that pride and build on it,” concluded Gini.
Growing Together is a community partnership established in 2011 to bring organizations and Tulsa residents together for collective impact in neighborhoods. The partnership is supported by CAP Tulsa, with the goal that residents become self-sustainable by depending on one another for solutions that provide safe and supportive neighborhoods and schools.
