The Bureau of Indian Affairs has ruled a request to place the Keetoowah Casino property into a trust will be accepted.
The ruling means the Tahlequah casino owned by the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokees will not have to close. The ruling comes after it was determined last year that the casino was not on Native American land.
The tribe agreed to pay $2 million to the state and filed to secure trust status in April.
