Tulsa Radio station KRMG 102.3 FM/740 AM has been named as a finalist for the prestigious 2013 National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Radio Award.

The Marconi nomination is for Medium Market Station of the Year and is the 1st time KRMG has been recognized for this prestigious award.

KRMG evening anchor Dick Loftin said that journalists at the radio station work hard to bring information to listeners on a daily basis.

“We recognize what KRMG tries to be to the community,’ said Loftin, “We try to be a radio station that serves Tulsa with breaking news and extensive weather coverage.”

Loftin went on to tell FOX23 that the nomination was a surprise and an honor.
“The award is kind of like the Oscars’ in our Business so it is a really big deal,” said Loftin.

The National Association of Broadcasters 2013 NAB Marconi Radio Awards honors radio stations and on-air personalities for excellence in broadcasting.

KRMG reporter and evening news anchor Steve Berg told FOX23 that they owe a lot of gratitude to the people who utilize the radio station as a news outlet.

“We owe a lot to our audience,” said Berg, “We wouldn’t be where we are without the people who listen.”

The winners will be announced on September 19 at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards in Orlando, FL.

KRMG certainly is not the same as it used to he. It morphed into some weird kind of hybrid freak show.
