A Tulsa police officer and his K-9 partner, Cal, caught Shain Garner, an armed robbery suspect, as he was coming out of a midtown Walgreens early Saturday morning.
The K-9 officer and his partner were keeping an eye on Walgreens at 15th and Lewis when they spotted a man go into the store with a hoodie over his head around 1:46 a.m. Saturday.
The officers observed the suspect exit the store and take off running with a plastic bag.
The officers began chasing the man, but the man didn't stop.
The officer then released Cal and continued chasing the suspect down.
The armed robbery suspect received dog bites on both legs from the K-9 officer, but the suspect did stop running after a brief struggle.
The Tulsa Police Department recovered a gun that fell out of the suspect's hoodie, and also a white Walgreens bag with loose U.S. currency.
When police ran the serial number on the recovered pistol, it came up stolen.
Garner is charged with stolen property, obstructing justice and robbery with a firearm. He is being held in Tulsa County Jail with a $52,000 bound.
