FOX23 is following breaking news at the Tulsa County Courthouse as jurors continue to deliberate the case of Andrew Dennehy.
He is accused of opening fire outside the courthouse in March of 2012, injuring a deputy and a bystander.
FOX23 has been at the Tulsa Courthouse all day as we await a verdict.
Our FOX23 crew told us around 9 p.m. Friday, the jury has been deliberating for over 5five hours at this point and there have been absolutely no signs of a decision here at the courthouse yet.
And for those people trying to decide Dennehy's fate, it's been a very long day starting with closing arguments and jury instructions.
As our FOX23 team has been reporting, the defense built their case around Dennehy's insanity at the time of the shooting.
His lawyers say Dennehy shot at deputies because he wanted them to shoot back.
That Dennehy believes in conspiracy theories and wanted to die because the "illuminati" were out to kill him anyway.
The state on the other hand tried to prove that Dennehy is in fact sane and knew what he was doing on March 7, 2012 when he allegedly opened fire outside the courthouse.
It's been quiet here since this afternoon when the jurors went into deliberation.
At that time Dennehy’s mom and the defense attorneys got onto the elevators and we haven't seen them since.
The jury is obviously having some difficulty making a unanimous decision on this case but you can count on us to be here when the verdict is read.
