For now, the Jenks City Council will not take any action against Fire Chief Gary Friedel.
City councilors made the motion Monday night to get more information, and to take that under advisement before deciding to take action, if any.
They want Friedel to have the chance to look at and respond to the allegations.
Firefighters say Friedel is putting public safety at risk.
They say he handles staff with disrespect, and he doesn't buy proper equipment. They also say he seldom shows up at calls, pointing out he only made an appearance at six in the past year.
FOX23 spoke with a city councilor who said he thought what they asked Monday was fair, especially since they aren't even supposed to be governing these types of issues.
He said it's basically breaking contract that the union came to them in the first place.
We also caught up with union president Nick Morgans.
"We really appreciate the council hearing us today, but we also appreciate them wanting to hear more so they can make an informative decision of whether or not to inquire into this," Morgans told FOX23.
Morgans hopes that the union and city can reach an agreement soon.
