During FOX23 News Monday we brought you the Jenks City Council's decision to allow a local doctor to build a commercial event center on his property.
FOX23 went to the meeting with neighbors, who were fighting this plan, who were deciding what do next.
We spoke with them afterward and they told us they are going to keep a close eye on traffic through the area and report any drunk drivers or accidents immediately.
This event center, which is scheduled to open in October, will sit on the property of Dr. Michael Spain, which had a lot of neighbors up in arms.
Their biggest concerns include alcohol, increased traffic and more accidents.
The center will be built at the end of 116th Street ,which three other neighborhoods use to get in and out of.
After concerned neighbors held meetings, passed out fliers and sent numerous emails to Jenks city councilors against the center, Spain's permit was approved 6-1.
Spain told FOX23, "At the end of the day when they heard all of the discussions they said this is going to be a good thing for Jenks and we agree."
We also spoke with Amy VanBrunt, who is against building the centerand "We will still have a concern for our neighborhood and will still keep an eye out for each other."
Spain says not to worry. He will hire security for events with 35 people or more if alcohol is involved and he will be limited to 250 guests at a time.
