As Halloween approaches, many kids already have their costumes ready to go, but their a few last minute things parents can check to make sure their kids costumes are safe.

First, make sure the costume fits theme good. If the pants are too long, it could be a tripping hazard as they walk house-to-house. If anything tangles to the ground, figure out a way to take it off or pin it up.

Second, masks can obstruct a child's view, so choose face paint and make-up instead.

Third, choose light colored costumes or decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers. All of this will increase children's visibility.

Last of all, hand your children flash-lights before they walk out the door. The sun will be setting around 6:30 pm Halloween night, so much of their Trick-or-Treating could be done in the dark.
