Mayes County investigators say one phone call changed Brenda's life. She was working behind the counter, at a Pryor Comfort Inn and Suites about a week ago, on a Sunday night.

Investigators said a woman, claiming to be in the farthest room from the desk, called and said she needed towels.

A guy answered Brenda's knock at the door. When he said he didn't make the call, Brenda rushed back to the desk, but it was already too late.

"I mean he just knew where everything was," said investigator, Tammy Steddum-Ward.

Ward said it took George Graham one minute to steal more than $350 from the register. Ward said Graham had help from the woman who supposedly needed towels, Debra Conklin.

"When she worked there, he would stay through the night," said Steddum – Ward.
Investigators said Conklin been fired a few weeks before the theft. According to investigators, Conklin and Graham made the call from the parking lot.

Investigators told Graham that cameras recorded him digging through the register.

"He said if he knew that they could see his face, he would have worn a mask," said -Ward.

FOX23 requested video, but the case was under investigation, so we were told no.
The people covering Brenda's shift wouldn't talk on-camera, but they showed us a donation box.

The job is 61-year-old Brenda's only source of income, but she hasn't been back to work since the theft. She had a heart attack the next day. Graham and Conklin each have a $75,000 bond.
