Investigators have been searching in an area of thick brush and fallen trees for more clues following the discovery of human remains in west Tulsa early Sunday.

It's happening near 49th West Avenue and 12th street.

Now, investigators have discovered a key piece of evidence that could provide the answers they’re looking for.

“We've located a human skull and inside of it is a set of human denture implants, and hopefully we can find a serial number in there to tell us who it is,” says Sgt. Eric Kitch with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.

They are using red flags and GPS to mark where they’ve found the human bones. They’ve also discovered some clothing, but no identification.

Along with the skull, close to 50 bones have been found scattered throughout the woods.

"We really don't have a time frame on how long he or she has been down here, but it looks like there has been a lot of animal activity that has moved the bones around,” says Kitch.

Two hikers discovered a human skull with a hole in it around 1:00 on Sunday.

Chris Martin watches investigators search as he waits for the news that it could possibly be his missing father.

"It's been hard on me for the last two years that I haven't found him, and this here is one of the closest cases close to his place here,” he says.

Chris says the pain of not knowing where his father is can sometimes be too much to bear.

"I do need closure because it bothers me every day. I wake up always wondering what's going on,” says Chris.

The crime tape remains up around the investigation site and once all of the evidence is collected, it will be turned over to the medical examiner's office so they can try and ID who this person was.

Investigators hope to have an ID on the body by the end of the week.
