Is recent winter weather proof global warming isn't real?

FOX23's Justin Gray talked to Sen. Jim Inhofe about his controversial comments on climate change.

For Inhofe, it all adds up to strong evidence against global warming.

He sits on the Environmental Committee in the Senate, which may help explain why Congress is at an impasse on climate change.

"First of all global warming is not taking place it's kind of laughable right now with all the records that are being set," said Inhofe.

It's cold enough in Washington, D.C., that there's ice instead of boats on the Potomac River. But environmentalists say a few cold days isn't evidence against global.

"The reality is there's a difference between weather and climate," said Inhofe.

The Natural Resources Defense Council's Bob Dean said while weather changes day to day and week to week, climate change is studied over years and decades.

"Climate change didn't abolish winter. We're still going to get cold days in January people shouldn't be surprised by that. We're looking at the long term trend," said Dean.

But Inhofe doesn't buy it.

He calls global warming a myth, a myth he said costs taxpayers billions in environmental regulations.

"You gotta understand we have people with their lives tied up with trying to make this hoax a reality," he said.

It's a fight over climate change that continues no matter what the season.

Not sure what's wrong with Inhofe. In the 60's we had snow on the ground for weeks months. I know cause I lived here.

Inhofe needs to take a remedial science class. I had hoped that he would have been a smarter man than this. For the last time, weather and climate is two different things!! From NASA "Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time." Global warming should really be called climate change.

The chairman of the Senate Committee on the environment doesnt understand the difference between weather and climate... for what he gets paid under the table, I could play dumb, too. Inhofe is what's wrong with Washington.
