U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe received the “Taxpayer Hero” award from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste for his voting record in 2011.

The award recognizes members of Congress who demonstrate a commitment to eliminate wasteful spending and reduce our national debt.

"In light of our nation’s current economic state, it is pivotal for Congress to cut waste, address the national debt, and restore transparency in Washington," said Inhofe.

"Our children are already saddled with relentless spending under the Obama Administration, and if it is not reigned in, many more generations to come will carry the burden. Currently, there is a lot of talk in Washington about increasing taxes. That would be the exactly wrong thing to do. The fiscal problems we now face can be fixed by reducing spending and focusing on job growth. Economic growth would dramatically increase revenues to the federal government. Raising taxes will only hurt our economy. I am honored to once again receive this distinction from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste."
