Broken Arrow police said an icy roadway is to blame for an accident that killed an 18-year old last week.

Police said 18-year old Elliot Renshaw was driving on East State Highway 51 at approximately 219th E. Ave around 2 p.m. on the 5th when he lost control on the roadway and the car went off the highway and rolled.

The passenger, 18-year old Travis Spielman, was ejected from the car and died from his injuries. Renshaw was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police determined Renshaw was wearing a seatbelt, and Spielman was not.
