Downtown Tulsa --

The beautiful weather brought out hundreds of early voters today. On the ballot are races for presidential, congressional, state and some county and local.
The line stretched all the way down Denver Avenue as early voting for the general election began early Friday morning. Many took advantage of getting their vote in before Tuesday.

"We actually used to work for the election board at the polling place, and we think its fun to be on the other side of it,” says early voter, Carol Friesen.

"I just like to see all of the people out here and it makes it a neat event, and it makes it more of a fun thing to do instead of just showing up to vote,” says early voter, Duane Friesen.

“I know if I wait until Tuesday, then I think the lines may be longer,” says early voter, Vivian Asberry.

She was excited to cast her vote, but disappointed her son couldn’t make it.

"He works for the Asplunda tree service and they got called away to go and help on the east coast with Hurricane Sandy,” says Asberry, and my concern is that he won't be able to vote and that really bothers me,” she says.

If you’re thinking about voting early, here is what you need to bring.

"Everybody will be asked to show their identification, which can be their voter registration card or a driver's license or any state or federal issued document with their photo and expiration date,” says Shelly Boggs with the Tulsa County Election Board.

The election board says nearly 11,500 voters showed up in 2008 for early voting and it expects the same numbers or better this year. Early voting continues on Saturday from 8-1:00pm and then again on Monday from 8-6pm.
