Tulsa Boxer Rescue is asking for your help in preventing animal abuse.

This plea comes after volunteers say they saw the worst case of abuse they've ever seen. Earlier this week, volunteers rescued a 6-month old boxer named Summer. She was found emaciated, dehydrated and malnourished with no access to water.  She was chained up in the yard with open sores all over her body.

Tulsa Boxer Rescue president Robin Wood said, "Summer was outside away from the family away from the home away from people all alone through the winter months. We need people to hear summer speaking because there are a lot more of her out there. many many more. Prevention is the key. The biggest outcry from the public is when there is a death. But we're working on the other end to prevent it from going this far."

I am so heart broken. How could anyone be so heartless. I am an owner of a white boxer, who`s name is Storm. My boxer is treated like my child, just because Summer was an animal doesnt meen she should she be treated in this manner. If a person can treat a 6 month old puppy this way,how do they treat there childern. This person should get the maximum the law allows for abuse.Thank you to all the animal rescues that arent afraid to speak out and volunter the time it takes to help all of Gods creatures. GOD BLESS, J.L.S of wagoner

I think that this is so sad. That poor dog didn't deserve to be treated like that. If you're not going to take care of your animal(s) then don't own them. There are other families out there that would actually take care of them. I agree, more should of been done.

I saw the pictures of this little Boxer before they became public and heard the day by day and hour by hour updates. The people at Tulsa animal rescue were devastated by losing her and horrified that this beautiful creature led a life of torture and I want to thank them that she knew a kind hand and love before she died. This did not happen in one day, this puppy was six months old and the owner is the one who did much more than neglect her, he tortured her every day of her short life. A fine just won't do it, there has to be consequences for the actions of this person. I live in Canada and this story has broken the hearts of many people around the world. This is not just a local case but one that we as a global community are watching. So that there is never another Summer that suffers please prosecute this person to the fullest extent of the law in Summer's name. Remember they say that someone who will torture an animal also has no respect for human life. Do not ignore the pain that this innocent animal lived with, make the right decisions.

TO ALL ANIMAL LOVERS AND PEOPLE WHO ARE HORRIFIED BY THIS STORY: Please, please, please if you see a case of neglect, abuse or cruelty call the animal welfare or police and keep on trying to get help before it gets this bad. I listened to her wimper, cry and do tiny barks at night in her sleep, and GOD KNOWS she must have cried out when she was out there so alone! She quieted down when I touched her and talked to her and gave her kisses and EVEN TRIED TO WAG HER LITTLE TAIL! She knew she was safe and loved when she passed. It BREAKS my heart to even talk about this, and I am in tears while I type. The animals look to us for their most basic needs, and in return give us UNCONDITIONAL love. Why can't we love them in return the way they should be loved..........

Can't believe they had to convince the owner to let them take the dog! Here in Texas animal control or SPCA would have taken possession of the animal and the owners could have been arrested on the spot and then prosecuted and/or fined. This is sickening!

Please write to the Wagoner Co. D.A. to ask that he prosecute the S.O.B. responsible to the fullest extent of the law. He is: Jerry Moore, Esq., Wagoner County District Attorney, 307 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK 74467 Summer looked worse than what her photos show. Don't just comment on these websites do more and make Summers voice heard!!!!

Sad for Summer's loss - I hope the owners face more than just $5,000 fine! We need stricter laws - and a police department that wants to enforce them.

Summer would have died there if the girl who delivered pizza had not given up trying to get help for her. It's bad enough to think of the owner neglecting Summer like that but the neighbors AND police ignoring her is just too much.

We should all get more serious about the importance of strict laws in the case of defenseless animals. Those that abuse animals are probably on their way to abusing children. It is a very tragic story. Hats off to the volunteers of Tulsa Boxer Rescue who faced that challenge and took their evening to rescue this pup. Tulsa Boxer Rescue (www.tulsaboxerrescue.net)and the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals (animalallianceok.org) are only two of the organizations working to prevent abuse. Get involved!

These people should get the maximum penalty, and even that would not be enough. Also why didn't any neighbors report it before it went as far as it did. Absolutely horrific!!
