Officials said Hillcrest will lay off 1% of their workforce.

Right now, Hillcrest employs 5,200 people. A majority of those employees have already been notified and the layoff goes into effect immediately in most cases.

Officials said a majority of those positions are administrative, so patient care is not being affected.

The layoffs are in response to the Affordable Care Act and Governor Fallin’s decision not to participate in Medicaid expansion. That puts an extra burden on health care facilities.
