PARK RIDGE, N.J. (AP) - Hertz is moving its headquarters from New Jersey to Florida, putting the company in the middle of a key travel market and trimming corporate expenses after its $2.3 billion buyout of one-time rival, Dollar Thrifty.

Up to 700 jobs will shift to Florida over a two-year period. More than 2,000 Hertz and Dollar Thrifty workers will stay in New Jersey, including about 150 employees from the current headquarters in Park Ridge.

All other Park Ridge workers will be able to keep their current positions at the new headquarters in Estero, Fla., just north of Naples on the Gulf Coast.

Hertz Global Holdings Group Inc. closed on its acquisition of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group in November.

Dollar is based in Tulsa, Okla. The Dollar Thrifty Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Richard Broome sent FOX23 this statement:

"We are committed to maintaining jobs in Tulsa, as we have said previously, the back-office ffunctions you mention for Hertz are in Oklahoma City and for Dollar Thrifty are in Tulsa. We have not provided figures for the job reductions or relocations, although all of the Dollar Thrifty HQ employees who will be staying with the company will be offered relocation to Florida."

On the Hertz website they wrote, "Oklahoma will continue to be our primary home for IT, customer service and financial support driving our North American businesses."

Dollar Thrifty employs approximately 615 people in Tulsa.
