Twinkling holiday lights are beautiful on the ground but a view from 1100 hundred feet up will take you breath away.
Just ask Connor Leeper.
“It’s awesome,” said Connor, “There are so many lights.”
Connor is a kidney cancer survivor. On Wednesday evening he and other area cancer survivors and patents got to enjoy the lights during a free helicopter ride.
FOX23 went along with 14 children and their families to Jones Riverside Airport in Jenks for a holiday party and Christmas light tour from Production Air Services. The children and their families enjoyed a party inside the hangar before taking a tour in a bell 206 B3 helicopter.
Connors’ mother, Lynn Leeper, says that the festive event is such a special opportunity because all of the children have been through so much.
“They’ve been through so many bad times and heart ache and this kind of helps erase all of those bad memories,” said Lynn.
Production Air Services and Mint Turbines, LLC sponsored the event. Danny Hickman with Mint Turbines told FOX23 that the evening was all about focusing on the children’s happiness.
“If for a few hours they can forget the pain and forget the rough times than that is what it is all about,” said Hickman.
