A helicopter bound for Tulsa’s Veterans Day parade was knocked off its trailer on highway 75 Monday morning.

FOX23 learned from the Tulsa County Undersheriff that a cable came loose and one of the helicopter's blades was caught on an overhead sign.

Veterans transporting the helicopter told FOX23 the chopper saved a lot of lives during the Vietnam War.
“Of all the aircrafts I worked on in 20 years, this was the best helicopter, best aircraft in my opinion. It meant everything, I spent a tour in Vietnam on an H model just like this,” said Master Sgt. Douglas Hill.

It took crews about two hours to clean up the wreck. Traffic got back to normal just before noon.

I hate to agree with the "I shoulda checked clearances" school of thought, but as a driver, driver.. I would've probably been laughing. Yes, it was not a great thing, but cha know what? I say good effort on that copter, but I'm MORE glad- very MUCH so- that those boys who she saved, and put her back together m a d e i t b a c k !!! Ta heck with the 'copter, no one was hurt! Coulda been so much worse.. almost like she did her job again, lol. I'm awful sorry for the luck guys, but I'd rather have YOU around than that ol flying grenade...

I think it sets an accurate example of how to drive in Tulsa. I see mistakes like this everyday that results in everything from stress to death on Tulsa streets. Boo Me for saying that everyone should be TESTED at least every 4 years (written and road). I feel this was no "accident" but, a costly mistake due to ignorance. Yeeha! Let's just drag this ole chopper off to the parade. OOOEEE,look at us! Dang! Did anyone check the clearance levels on route? Oh, it'll make it.....
