A preliminary hearing Tuesday for Israel Castillo was postponed until Nov. 29, according to the Tulsa Co. District Attorney's office.
"Assistant DA Sarah McAmis requested the continuance, and announced to the judge in court that she had just been made aware that an on-going investigation had determined there may be potential new witnesses and/or victims with regard to Castillo," said DA spokeswoman Susan Witt in a statement emailed to FOX23.
Castillo, 23, is accused of propositioning a fifteen-year-old girl online. He's charged with lewd or indecent proposals to a child and use of a computer to facilitate a sex crime. He is currently out on bond.
Castillo is one of two former employees of Victory Christian Center charged with crimes against children. Right now, the DA says only one alleged victim has been linked to Castillo, but officials are talking to more witnesses and say there is the possibility of another victim or victims tied to Castillo.
Chris Denman, 20, is also charged with rape, molestation, and use of a computer to facilitate a sex crime. He's accused of assaulting a thirteen-year-old in a stairwell at the Victory Christian Center in August. The girl attended a day camp at the church. He's also accused of propositioning a twelve-year-old girl on Facebook, and inappropriate behavior with a fifteen-year-old.
Five Victory Christian employees accused of failing to report the alleged abuse have been allowed to return to work with supervision. They're each charged with a misdemeanor.
