OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports 100 hospitalizations in the past week for influenza but says the state has not recorded any new deaths.

The department says Oklahoma has seen a total of 484 hospitalizations and eight deaths since Sept. 30. That includes the 100 hospitalizations recorded between Jan. 9 and Tuesday.

The number of hospitalizations has already surpassed last year's total of 316.

Tulsa County reported the highest number of hospitalizations for this flu season, at 162. That's followed by 62 in Oklahoma County, 24 in Creek County and 20 in Cleveland County.

Tulsa County also recorded 3 flu deaths, while Creek, Mayes, Muskogee, Pittsburg and Rogers counties each had one.

The flu season is considered to be the months of September through May.
