Tulsa Public School officials say a campus police officer was injured by a fire that caused Hale High School to be evacuated on Monday afternoon.
Officials say the school, near 21st and Memorial, was evacuated around 3:15 because of what they initially thought was a possible chemical spill. TPS officials now say a student set a roll of toilet paper on fire.
Officials say TPS Campus Police Officer Charles Gadd tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher and inhaled a lot of smoke.
Gadd was taken to the hospital and was released this morning. The student who started the fire faces two counts of arson with injury.
