Sunday, Atia Thierry got the keys to this, her brand new home- through Habitat for Humanity, but she didn't do the work alone.

North Tulsa's newest neighbor, Atia Thierry, couldn't stop wiping her tears.

She and her two young children have been waiting for 18 months for this moment.

"It's really a blessing for us, it's something we've been waiting for,' says Thierry.

To qualify for the Habitat for Humanity program, Atia had to be a low-income family, and put 500 hours of work into the home.

"On top of having two small kids, going to work, doing the hours by myself, that was kind of a struggle for me, but I got through it," says Thierry.

She's didn't go through it alone though her sponsors, the Swindles gave more than $40,000 and the Tuesday Morning Miracle Workers, a group of 30 retired men, put up walls, and layed flooring just because that's what they do.

"We are just a volunteer group of retirees, who feel like the Lord has called us to build houses for Habitat for Humanity," says co-founder of the group, Bob Sanborn.

These 70 to 80-year olds don't know who they are helping but they love getting to know the new families they build homes for, like Atia.

"Dedication day is our pay day, when we see the excitement and the enthusiasm of the family, and we think we are helping people to a better life," says Sanborn.

Atia tells me the group really is a bunch of miracle workers.

"I don't even know, I mean I know them from coming to help do the work, but other than that, I've never met them," explains Thierry.

She says there's only one thing left to do.

"Oh my god I want to move my stuff in, I said if we had to we are going to come over here and sleep on palettes!" says Thierry.

Habitat for Humanity is also starting a Tuesday Morning Miracle Workers Fund. Its goal is to raise one-million dollars over the next five years for home building. You can donate money to them at the Tulsa Community Foundation.
