A local gun advocate was offended when he went to dinner with his concealed gun and realized he would not be allowed to come inside with his weapon.
‘I was offended because I have a concealed carry license so the government trusts me to have a gun but Louie’s Grill and Bar does not?” questioned Joe Beene. “So I thought what other businesses am I not allowed to enter anymore?”
He and his friends created a new website. It is launching this week. It’s called “Knowbeforeyougo.us” and it’s designed to list businesses that are not gun friendly establishments.
“My friend texted me a few days after that and said Buffalo Wild Wings is not allowing guns inside either, and I was like, no that’s another one of my favorite places here,” said Beene.
FOX23 spoke with Buffalo Wild Wings in Tulsa Hills shopping area. The manager said the corporate owner will make a decision this week that could allow guns inside the front half of the restaurants, which is the side with a higher food to alcohol ratio. However, the bar side in the back he believes they will keep guns out because there is more alcohol than food consumed back there and it is safer that way, according to the manager.
Beene agrees to disagree with that thought about safety.
“I feel safer when I have my gun on me,” said Beene. “I feel vulnerable and uncomfortable when I cannot protect myself.”
The website needs people to call in about businesses that are banning guns. Beene said if a business changes its policy Beene will remove it from his site.
