Dozens gathered in downtown Tulsa Saturday afternoon to celebrate the launch of ilovenorthtulsa.com.
The event took place at the John Hope Franklin Center.
"A strong north Tulsa is good for Tulsa in general,” said event organizer, Gregory Hope. “The things that you see are not faltering in our community a lot of times."

Hope hopes to create a new perception of the place he calls home.

"We have had some terrible statistics lately concerning violence and crime lately,” said Jonathan Townsend. "That hasn't been the whole story."

Townsend if from north Tulsa and he works with the NAACP.

"I think north Tulsa is a place that we can be proud about as long as we understand all the positive that goes on in our community,” said Townsend.

"We have had some terrible statistics lately concerning violence and crime lately,” said Jonathan Townsend. "That hasn't been the whole story." Lately? That's been the case as long as I can remember. "I think north Tulsa is a place that we can be proud about as long as we understand all the positive that goes on in our community,” said Townsend. What positive would that be? Those great folks up there that don't allow a grocery store to remain open for more than a year? Perhaps you're referring to the pride in the community, exhibited by those who stepped over the dead body to pick up their food order at the Chicken Shack?
