Police in Tampa stepped in to help a family after a real-life Grinch took off with their Christmas presents Monday

But still, the family's most prized possession cannot be replaced.

"They threw all these clothes on the floor."

Clothes scattered everywhere. Melody Russell returned from work last night and found her temple terrace home ransacked.

"I noticed there was a mess of stuff, a pile of stuff in the hallway, which wasn't there," Russell said.

The crooks broke in through a sliding glass door in her bedroom. Once inside, they went through every bedroom in the house, pulling clothes from draws. They then went right for the gifts under the living room Christmas tree.

"She's mostly over here sometimes, when my mom's at work and we're at school," Russell said.

Then, to add insult to injury, the thieves stole the family's shih tzu puppy named honey. Tampa police are still searching for the dog right now.

While they do, several members of the department came to the home and put dozens of gifts under the tree for Melody and her children so they could still celebrate Christmas.

Gifts gratefully accepted, but the family said they won't be whole until one member of their family is returned.

"I don't think my kids are necessarily concerned about their gifts. Their dog is what they want."

So far, police do not have any suspects.

The family is planning to move out of the home.

Poor little doggy. Hope their little doggy will be ok. If any of the gifts are wireless devices, they can be traced by their GPS. Might find more. Interesting news. Local news? It's on this continent.
