Multiple grass fires sparked in the Tulsa area and surrounding cities due to the windy weather conditions Sunday.

FOX23 spoke with the Tulsa Fire Department to find out what they do when weather conditions are proving to be hazardous.

Fire crews tell FOX23 they called more staff in on Sunday to make sure they had enough crew members to cover multiple fires.

Oklahoma forestry leaders say last year 169 fires burned 3,400 acres and firefighters tell us it was on a day like today.

If you see a grass fire, don't hesitate to call your local police or fire department.

It's very easy for fires to get out of control quickly and end up destroying Tulsan's property.

Stay with FOX23 for more details.
