A Porter grandmother is speaking up for her granddaughter who she said is the victim of a former Porter coach.
FOX23 reported last Friday that the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office had arrested Johnny Scott. Scott is accused of performing a lewd act in the presence of a minor and lewd molestation. Scott has bonded out of jail.
FOX23 hid the identity of the grandmother to protect the victim. The grandmother said that she reached out to FOX23 exclusively because she wants children to know, in any case, that they have a voice.
"You don't have to be ashamed if this happens to one of your family members," said the grandmother.
She told FOX23 reporter Brittany Jeffers that the family has been on an emotional roller coaster.
'If you think that it can't happen to your daughter of your granddaughter then you are wrong,' said, "Because we trusted that when she was that school that she was safe."
She said that the teacher violated that trust.
"I would like him to look me in the eyes and explain to me why."
Johnny Scott is accused of Performing a Lewd Act in presence of minor and lewd molestation.
The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office told FOX23 that they interviewed witnesses and looked at evidence, like pictures, before bringing the case to the district attorney.
The grandmother alleges that there was also inappropriate touching. The family of the alleged victim has filed a protective order.
The grandmother told FOX23 that she is still searching for answers but she said she believes her teenage granddaughter has been courageous.
"From the first time she came forth and told she has stood strong."
