Evan was my instructor for my CC class and yes, he was upset at Fox23 for taking his remarks out of context. Seems the media is incredibly good at that, no matter which side they are biased of. It makes it sound almost like he is against carrying period, when that's absolutely not the case. Plus, the article infers that the CC license and Open Carry license are different. They are not. If you have a CC license currently now you can open carry come November. The phrasing on the license may change a little in November, but both versions of the license will suffice for both concealed carry AND open carry. Instead of throwing this piece together in 15 minutes, you might have taken a little more time to research this.

Clearing up open carry rules? What a joke. Tell me fox, what was not clear when you pulled the media trigger on this story and the instructor you suckered? The media is more dangerous than someone open carrying.

Police do not have the authority to stop and ask if a person who is open carrying if they have a permit unless that person is suspected of a crime. It is illegal for a cop to ask for an id or a permit randomly of a law abiding citizen. If people allow this practice it would be no different than Germany Nazi asking randomly for your papers. Get it through you heads this is the united states not a communist country. This new story is lame. I am an NRA firearms instructor, CLEET certified, Oklahoma state certified conceal carry instructor. I support open carry. As far as the lame statements in this story about places you can't carry, it is nothing new and has always been that every since concealed carry started. If a police randomly ask me for my permit I will refuse. If he arrests me for not showing it I will sue them. A holstered gun is what law abiding citizen has a criminal has no holster. This media story is designed to scare the public that has no knowledge of firearms or Oklahoma law. People of Oklahoma, don't get your facts from the media go to the osbi website and download the current carry laws and read them.

@SupportThe2nd, I'm the instructor they interviewed, and I'm not very happy with how I was presented. By comments were that Open Carry from a Self Defense standpoint essentially allows your assailant to know that you're carrying. It's not tactically sound. I'm not 'Anti' the open carry provision. Fox took a snippet of my 10 minute interview and used it to show my as being 'anti'. I explained to Frank the I'm for Open Carry but I explained that those that wish to open carry take some advanced classes on learning to shoot from Holsters and understanding the laws on self-defense with a weapon and the castle doctrine to a 'T'. My comments were in respect to 'Responsible handgun ownership and usage'. I'm not an advocate of someone open carrying on a daily basis because I think it puts you the licensee at a disadvantage in a potential conflict, however, I actively support Open Carry with vigilant responsibility.

You are right it is not a privilege it's a right given to us by our forfathers.When the politicians started buying votes with our tax dollars they have taken a lot for granted.

One thing nice about the open carry law (and maybe its actual intent) is that it keeps the variety of paranoid, goonish cop from writing a ticket and having your concealed carry taken away if you happen to accidentally have your weapon show in public.

Two problems with the story. First, you can carry on city and state property, just not in governmental buildings or where government meetings are taking place. It is perfectly legal to carry in a city park or a parking lot connected to a city or state building. Second, the permit is not similar to the concealed carry permit, it is the exact same license.
